Biryani shop owner hit with wicket for not selling on credit in New Town

A biryani shop owner in New Town’s Shapoorji area was attacked on Tuesday evening after refusing to provide biryani on credit. The accused, identified as Ajay Sardar, allegedly vandalized the shop before striking owner Rupam Biswas on the head with a wicket. The victim, bleeding profusely, was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.

According to the complaint filed at Techno City Police Station, Ajay Sardar regularly visited the shop, took food on credit, and failed to clear dues. On Tuesday, he allegedly demanded ten plates of biryani, and when refused, he started damaging property. When the owner intervened, he was allegedly attacked. Locals present at the scene said the accused fled immediately after the assault.

Techno City Police have launched an investigation and are analyzing CCTV footage from the area. Officers have also spoken to witnesses and the victim’s family. Security has been tightened in the locality, and efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the accused.
